an equation!

  • One travel cage +
  • One large rodent exercise ball +
  • Enough chopped carrots, strawberries, bananas, and celery for four +
  • Eight yoghurt drops +
  • Four vitamin packed nutra-nibbles +
  • Two cardboard tubes +
  • One day's worth of rat food +
  • One freshly filled water bottle +
  • One noisy, brightly coloured wood block toy +
  • Two very spoilt little rats +
  • One slightly sad rat mummy =
Prudence and Lucy's sleepover at Auntie Katie's (bahaha) house!

The girls are all packed and ready to go, and I suppose I'm being a little bit... er... persnickety about their care. Ah well, I suppose one can never be too careful, right? I don't know how I'm going to get to sleep without them loudly slurping their water or climbing up the sides of their cage tonight... but I suppose I'll manage. You'd think they were going away for a week rather than just a night the way I'm carrying on, haha.

What can I say? I love me some ratty white noise to get me to sleep.

Ah well, it's for a good cause. And I'm glad they'll get both mental and physical exercise, seeing as they haven't been getting terribly much considering my recent bout with the flu and all. (:

That's all for now!

P. S.- One plus side of this is that it's now about 50000 times easier to clean their big cage while they're gone!

cutest thing. ever.

Seriously... I think 'nuff said on this one.

Sorry for the poor image quality, and the cage bars in the way. Every time I open the cage to try and take a picture of them all snuggled up, they run to the door and whereas it's adorable it sort of ruins the picture. As for the quality itself... Um yeah. No excuse, I just messed up. Haha.

crazy, crazy wednesday

Yearbook is FINALLY over! To celebrate, we went to Cici's for lunch/partying/yeah. And we had a very much good time, I must say. :D

I got kisses bahaha.

I played the Claw.

I won stuff.

All in all, a very productive day and a lot of fun with friends. :D

Music?

Alright, everyone knows that I'm in love with the Beatles. I mean, just look at my room:

Unfortunately, there are MANY other decent artists out there... most of whom I probably haven't even heard of. I'm getting a bit tired of fighting Pandora to find stuff that's both new to me and tolerable... so I've decided to appeal to the people.

I'm pretty sure my taste is fairly versatile- I like everything from the Cranberries to Pink to the Beatles to Regina Spektor and many things in between. But I feel like there's probably something I'm missing out on... If you think so, just let me know, ok? I'm always up for new music.

In return, I'd like to ask the question: have you ever heard of Wolfmother?

No? Here, click this. If you have any taste in music at all, you'll enjoy it. Trust me. No. Really. Click the link.

Current fave. :D

Until next time,

love, love, love

I've had a long weekend. This included:

  • Going to Fideles's first softball game, which was fun despite the score d:
  • Lock-in at Malibu with Taylor and Lizzy and other people who weren't nearly as awesome
  • Going to sleep at 8 am after said lock-in
  • Shopping at Lenox and being absolutely disgusted by the materialism going on in this country
  • Kenty being home for (at least some of) his spring break
  • Dinner with the family celebrating my dad's new job
  • Losing an hour of sleep, but welcoming some nice spring weather
  • Spending some (but not nearly enough) time talking to a very awesome boy
  • Aaand... drinking enough chocolate milk to feed a small country.
Not only that, but I have a chiropractic appointment and a date with a camera tomorrow! I'm excited about the latter- my good friend Lindsay is going to be taking my senior pictures. I know the results are going to be awesome.

Well, I'd better get my beauty sleep. Good night, all!

p. s.- I'm in love with James Blunt.

hair!

As an answer to the previous blog- my hair was embarking on an artistic journey of epic proportions. The results?

I'm currently in love with my hair stylist. How could I not be? After four hours of hard work- on his part, not mine so much- my hair has become a masterpiece. Like, legit, a work of art. Observe:

I feel a tad narcissistic, but with hair like this, who wouldn't be? (:

Science Fiction Creatures?

What could possibly possess me to sit around looking like this?:

Hint: I'm NOT going to star in any SciFi flicks in the near future.

Answers and results coming soon! (:

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Okay, I know I should probably be asleep. But I'm not, so I decided to blog instead (isn't it sad that I have nothing better to do than ramble on about my life on the internet?)!

My Tuesday was terrific. I:
  • Woke up late (okay, maybe that wasn't terrific)
  • Ate carrot cake
  • Cried in journalism class because Taylor told me there were only three months of school left
  • Got in trouble for giggling with Katie in math
  • Had chorus, in which my brain got very frazzled by a million things going on at once
  • Bought the best dress ever sewn by enslaved Chinese children
  • Freaked out my parents by telling them "I love you"
  • Talked to Gerald for a decent amount of time
  • Came to some very important realisations
And had many other exciting adventures. Now it's Wednesday, I need to sleep, and life is pretty much good. Any thoughts on the new banner? I have a much needed hair appointment later- hurrah! Results to come soon!

baby, it's cold outside!

Question of the day- How do you counteract this nasty, cold weather?

The answer: Cocoa.

I've spent a good portion of my young life trying to create the perfect cocoa recipe. It's so easy to get it too sweet, too hot, too watery, not warm enough, etc... But I've finally found an easy way that works and gives you perfect drinking temperature every time!

You will need:
  • a very large coffee mug
  • a spoon
  • a microwavable measuring cup
  • a packet or three decent-sized spoonfuls of your favourite cocoa mix (i like swiss miss, especially the marshmallow lovers' kind)
  • a bit of flavoured coffee creamer (i'm fond of blueberry cobbler or hazelnut)
  • milk (preferably whole, but horizon brand 2% works just as well, and i suppose skim can too)
Instructions:
  • empty cocoa mix into mug
  • add about two tablespoons of milk and a dash of creamer to mix
  • stir well. should have a bubbly texture when you're done and mix should be completely saturated.
  • put about a cup and a half or so of milk in the measuring cup- however much it would take to fill your mug up to a comfortable drinking level
  • microwave this milk for 2.5 minutes. watch carefully, it could boil over if you aren't careful.
  • add hot milk to your cocoa-milk-and-creamer mixture, stir well.
  • add marshmallows or whipped cream and enjoy with your favourite cookies or biscotti!
Play around with it to suit your preferences. (:
